CHINESE CALLIGRAPHY
Calligraphy is the art of writing beautifully. In Chinese calligraphy, a brush is used to write out Chinese characters and stroke order becomes extremely important to doing it well.
This cultural activity can be seen prominently in Chinese New Year celebrations: a traditional decoration is made by writing out the character 福 (Fú) – which means happiness and good fortune – on a red square and inverting it as you put it up to allow the good fortune to ‘pour out’ on you.
A fun and meaningful activity, this is especially perfect for the bonding between grandparents and their grandkids.
